XO Plates: Buying Terms & Conditions

By accepting the terms outlined below, you are entering into a legally binding agreement between yourself and XO Plates. By acquiring a registration plate from XO Plates, you acknowledge your agreement with the terms and conditions detailed below.

Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations Act 2014, all rights are forfeited upon agreement to the terms and conditions, and no cancellations or returns can be accommodated, with the process commencing immediately. Nevertheless, XO Plates will make every effort, where feasible and with a valid reason provided, to consider cancellations or refunds (within 7 working days, subject to charges). Kindly note that once an order has been processed, XO Plates cannot accommodate cancellations.

If a cancellation is approved, please allow up to 60 days for any refund to reflect on your statement balance.

▶ A registration mark cannot be assigned to a vehicle if it makes the vehicle appear newer than its actual age. It is the buyer's responsibility to grasp this condition before making online or phone purchases with an advisor.

▶ All registrations must be displayed in accordance with the Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001.

▶ All registration marks purchased through XO Plates can be assigned to vehicles registered in mainland GB and Northern Ireland.

▶ Any events causing delays to the registration process, beyond XO Plates' control (e.g., postal system, email, DVLA, commission seller), relieve XO Plates of all liabilities. Acrylic number plates are dispatched via Royal Mail 1st class and are typically received within 7 working days. If documents are requested, note our delivery times: Standard Delivery, 12 working days (approx); First Class Signed For, 7 working days (approx).

▶ XO Plates aims to complete all transfers within 7 days, but under certain circumstances, this cannot be guaranteed. All purchases from XO Plates may take up to 120 days. If XO Plates cannot complete a transfer within 120 days, the customer will have the option for a full refund to the original payment method.

▶ If an order is not received within 30 days of placement, please notify us immediately. Failure to do so within this timeframe may result in the imposition of a duplicate document fee or the cost of the components not received (Duplicate Document Fee - £85 + VAT).

▶ Standard delivery does not provide proof of postage. If this is a requirement, we recommend selecting Royal Mail Signed For when processing your order. XO Plates cannot be held liable for missing goods by Royal Mail. Claims for missing goods will be logged with Royal Mail if reported within the 30-day period, enabling us to resend the goods.

▶ If XO Plates is required to return any documents to the customer, for any reason, XO Plates will be relieved of all liabilities. XO Plates shall return all documents via Royal Mail 1st Class. If the customer wishes to arrange a collection service for these documents, they will be liable for the full cost of this service.

▶ If XO Plates refunds any transaction, please allow up to 14 working days for the funds to be cleared back into your account. XO Plates is not responsible for any delays caused by your bank.

▶ If XO Plates agrees to an exchange of a purchase, the exchange is not confirmed until goods are delivered. If the selected number is no longer available once DVLA confirms the exchange, XO Plates cannot be held liable, and the original number will be issued. The exchange administration fee would be refunded in full.

▶ All registrations must undergo the legal registration transfer process before being displayed on a vehicle.

▶ DVLA does not allow registrations to be transferred to agricultural vehicles and non-testable vehicles.

▶ While XO Plates makes every effort to ensure the website is kept updated, due to the vast number of registrations listed, some may not be available or may be priced incorrectly. In such cases, XO Plates reserves the right not to honor the registration mark. An alternative registration may be offered, or a full refund will be processed via the original payment method.

▶ XO Plates accepts confirmed and accepted orders only after your order has been delivered. Processing of payment or order acknowledgment does not constitute a legally binding contract.

▶ XO Plates sells registrations owned by itself, clients, and unissued government stock. All registrations are subject to availability, DVLA transfer fees, plus VAT where applicable. XO Plates is a recognized DVLA registered reseller of number plates and uses the terms DVLA, DVLA number plates, and DVLA Personalized Registrations for describing the goods and number plate services offered. DVLA is a registered trademark of the Driver & Vehicle Licensing Agency, and XO Plates is not affiliated with the DVLA or DVLA Personalized Registrations.

▶ XO Plates offers to secure registrations unreleased by the DVLA. Processing payment for a registration release (pre-order) by XO Plates does not guarantee supply by XO Plates or the DVLA. If XO Plates is unsuccessful in supplying a registration pre-order, it would be relieved of all liabilities and may offer an alternative registration or issue a full refund.

▶ Any registration supplied on a retention certificate must be assigned to a vehicle or have the retention period extended before the certificate expiry date. Failure to do so may result in the loss of ownership and all rights to the registration. In the event that XO Plates can recover ownership and rights to the registration mark, an admin fee of £155.00 must be paid to XO Plates, in addition to the DVLA fee. It is important to note that XO Plates does not guarantee the recovery of ownership and rights.

▶ If the purchaser chooses XO Plates to handle the legal transfer process, the purchaser should be prepared to send in the original requested documentation (V5 Registration Document). All documents must be sent within 3 weeks of the request made by a member of the aftercare sales team. Documents should not be sent before they are requested.

▶ If the purchaser opts for the ownership documents to be dispatched, it is their responsibility to assign the registration mark before the expiry date on the certificate of entitlement or the retention certificate. Failure to assign within the given expiry date will result in the loss of all ownership rights to the number.

▶ It is the purchaser's responsibility to ensure the correct registration mark is being purchased online or over the phone. When purchasing with a sales team member over the phone, the registration mark should be described using the phonetic alphabet to ensure accurate details.

▶ It is the purchaser's responsibility to understand the terms and conditions set out by the DVLA before purchasing a registration mark online or over the phone. XO Plates will not accept liability for incorrect numbers processed. If an incorrect number is processed, please inform XO Plates within 24 hours of purchasing, with the registration number displayed on your order confirmation email.

▶ It is the purchaser's responsibility to ensure the registered name (Nominee Name) is correct at the time of purchase. If the given name is incorrect and needs to be changed or amended, an admin fee of £65.00 + VAT will be payable to XO Plates to correct the nominee name for the transfer to be successful.

▶ It is the purchaser's responsibility to understand the restrictions of the registration clearly. XO Registration Plates LTD is not responsible for checking the current registration on the vehicle.

▶ In cases where the purchaser decides not to assign a purchased registration and has chosen a fully managed transfer service, XO Plates shall not be required to refund any fees paid.
